St. Johannes Hospital in Dortmund, Germany, has undergone an extensive OR renovation project. A total of 10 operating rooms have been modernized in partnership with Getinge, one of which has been converted to a Hybrid OR certified to the highest level of sterility in Germany.

The new hybrid operating room features a MAGNUS operating table system synchronized with the Philips Allura Xper FD20 FlexMove C-arm. Getinge also supplied the TEGRIS OR integration system and PowerLED lights. The lights were positioned to accommodate the room’s unusual layout.

Getinge was involved from the very beginning, advising and aiding throughout. The table and angiography system were synchronized in close collaboration with Philips. The project required extensive planning and communication on all levels – with everyone from doctors, surgeons, technicians, nurses and architects to the IT department and other stakeholders. Construction work went on for two years.

The St. Johannes Hybrid OR is primarily used for cardiology, heart and vascular surgery. However, it is highly flexible, and is designed to support a wide variety of interventions. As a leading-edge hybrid operating room, it has attracted attention throughout Germany – with many visiting it during the starting stages of their own OR projects.
